New York University (NYU) is a private research university in the United States. Founded in 1831, NYU's main campus is in Greenwich Village, with other campuses throughout New York City. NYU is also a global university where students can study at their NYU undergraduate campuses in Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, as well as at their 12 academic centers in Accra, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Florence, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Paris, Prague, Sydney, Tel Aviv and Washington, DC.

In 2018, NYU ranked among the top 30 universities by three rankings:

The Academic Ranking of Universities of the World, Times Higher Education World University Rankings,

and the U.S. News & World Report.

For the class enrolled in the fall of 2018, NYU received 75,037 enrollments for its undergraduate courses; this is more applications than any other college or private university in the United States.
